Spotlight: Greeting card of the Month

Goochy, coochy, goo, originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

We are going to take the time to talk about and highlight work from our greeting cards range, hopefully at least one a month. And here is the lucky winner this month.

We've had this letterpress gift card in our range from the start, while it has evolved a little, the size has changed, it's still the same great design and has been a hit with all our customers and suppliers.

It reads, Goochy Coochy Goo and is blank inside, this text based design comes in brilliant red only, making it a neutral greeting card and can be given to a newborn baby girl or boy. We think it could even be used for a first birthday, or for that kid with cheeks that are just too irresistible for pinching. Either way we know this card will be a hit, with it's simple design, gorgeous finish and touch of cute, it can be enjoyed at any age.

Interesting ideas for greeting cards

A whole new meaning for "Text messages worth saving" These are the words from a tiny little advertising campaign we launched in 2009. Now, this could make a pretty interesting greeting card! Just to find right place for it.

Inspiration: furniture

I found these guys while procrastinating over my computer, via the Paper tastebuds blog, and I'm so glad I did, and since I can't stop thinking about it, I thought it worthy to give it a mention.
Shubladen furniture make these incredible cabinets and wall units reusing vintage drawers. I have to get one, they are stunning!

I love this work so much because the furniture embodies some of the same values that inspires us, the mix of old with new.

Before letterpress there was photography

Keally, originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

I have to say it, there is nothing like film photography.

We love the instant results of my Digital SLR, but it just doesn't compare to the crispness of film, it's simply yummy. In fact I would go so far as to say it really changes the way I take photos, there is something just so much more creative about preparing for the photo when there is film involved.

And just when I thought I had everything, my Pentax P30 and my Hasselblad medium format. I was introduced to the world of Lomography and my Holga 120 CFN - omg!

This photo was taken with that camera what a plastic fantastic machine!

Taking some time to get personal

Apache, originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

It's taken us a little while, but as we sit back and enjoy reading about "other people" we decided it was time to write more about "us" who we are, where we came from, what inspires me, and why I do what I do.

So here goes.

My first entry is dedicated to my most dear little 4 legged friend, her name is Apache. I had never known such loyalty as that in the love of a dog, I found her in the trading post for $20 and I had no idea what breed she was.

She has now passed away but I love this photograph of her, it really sums her up, easy going and happy.

Thank you for your sloppy kisses and warm cuddles.

Nothing short of quirky

Gemma and Priya, originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

I love it when an more unique brief comes my way. This invitation set is nothing short of quirky and suits the couple down to a "t".

A single colour and unique pairing of imagery and text make this invitation a success in every way, we love it and would do it all again.

All the very best for upcoming wedding.

Loving you is easy...

Loving you is easy..., originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

Right from the start I loved this card, this card has been in our range from the beginning, it's called loving you is easy and it's an interactive piece. When you are the receiver of this card, you have the chance to fill in the dots to reveal the very special illustrated message The dots, when joined form the simple image of a love heart, simple, sweet and very special, a dot-to-dot card.

So the other day when we were looking for inspiration we came across some gorgeous images posted by a local and very groovy Wedding Planner, one particular couple had used our idea for their wedding stationery, yes, I was upset, but then, we were a little flattered that someone else also thought this was a great idea, sadly the stationery was digitally printed, and of course we think it would have looked much better in letterpress, and printed by us.

So at the end of the day I am a little thrilled that our range of cards are making an impression (excuse the pun) and today that was all the inspiration I needed to create some more.

Our name

Late night printing, originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

Yes, we have changed our name!

For a long time we resisted the notion that stationery was ultra feminine and "girly" and we wanted to appeal to a broader audience, but who am I kidding, I love the pretty papers and all the frilly bows that go with it.

We changed our name to better reflect the work we produce, the name to me is now more romantic and more inline with our goals for the future.

And I had a little secret, I was 5 weeks pregnant at our wedding.

Every detail

I loved every tiny little rustic detail.

This wall was filled with childhood photos of Sasha and I, strangely many people said we looked alike, we really did.

Our first dance

Looking over these pictures makes me smile, and then reminds me how little I really am.

We've been married for a year

I can't believe its been a year already. Late night printing got me thinking about our amazing day in January last year. I put so much of me into every little detail.

Friend and artist Carey Potter made these gorgeous signs for us, I love them. I also have one of his paintings, its huge and hangs above my bed.

Our reception was in an old horse stable, I wasn't a giddy bride, but when we found this I actually cried. Then the logistics of making this into a venue our guests would enjoy was a challenge and one that I took on all on my own!

Garden weddings

Colin & Bonita, originally uploaded by vinceletterpress.

I love a garden wedding, and as many of our brides are getting married about this time of year, we are thinking of you and we hope this weather is kind to you on your special day.

Thank you Bonita for choosing to work with us on your wedding invitation, I loved this design, I wasn't completely sure about your colour selection, but, as always, I am tickled pink (or deep green) with the results and I love this invitation and the colour.

We hope you have a wonderful and special day, you were just a dream boat to work with. I am so lucky to have met you.

Don't be afraid to really personalise

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since we met this gorgeous couple. From our first meeting it was easy to tell this couple was just going to be lovely to work with and their vision was clear. They really wanted something special and it had to be just for them.

Don’t be afraid to really personalise your wedding stationery. Ben & Leigh were getting married at 333 Collins Street in Melbourne, for anyone who’s visited this building will know how incredibly detailed the interior ceiling is, so we used this as inspiration and turned it into a pattern for the invitation.

The suite had a two colour invitation, I love this blue green and it really compliments the second colour, we also went for a stunning japanese paper lining for the thank you cards…more on this shortly.

Newest stockists

We are delighted to welcome on board a florist, we can't get enough flowers and I wish I could just swap cards for flowers!
Please welcome Native Bloom in Kew Victoria, please enjoy our cards, and if you live in Kew, now you know where you can pick up one of our gorgeous cards...oh and some pretty flowers.
